The white kitchen trend has been around for decades, and we don’t see it loosing steam any time soon. White kitchens have remained so popular for several reasons. We’ll go over the reason that the white kitchen trend has been a staple of the interior design community for years, and just why that may be.

White Kitchens are Truly Timeless

First, white kitchens have a timeless look, so you don’t have to worry about your brand new kitchen design becoming outdated. While some pieces can become out of date, or your tastes may grow away from some choices you made, your white cabinets and/or countertops, the basis of your white kitchen, will remain desirable. Whether you choose a white laminate, Carrara marble, or white quartz, the look will remain solid. There is nothing “trendy” about white, so it going out of trend is not a possibility. Other colors may come and go as the top choice during certain times, but white will never drop off the map.

Vast Versatility

White kitchens are incredibly versatile. Your kitchen cabinets and kitchen countertops are by far the most expensive pieces of a kitchen remodel. Because of this, choosing cabinets and countertops that you and your family will be happy with for years to come is a very important choice. If you go with the trendiest cabinets of the moment, but that trend happens to go out of style 5 years later, you’ll either be stuck with a kitchen that you don’t really like anymore, or you’ll need to reinvest in cabinets that you like better. Both options are undesirable. This means that you should think extra hard about your cabinet choice particularly. Going with white kitchen cabinets gives you so many choices. A simple backsplash or cabinet hardware change can dramatically change the look and even style of your kitchen overall. If you decide that you want another refresh, you can always switch out your countertops as well. Depending on your preferences, this can be fairly inexpensive or take a bit more money, but the choice is always there. Replacing countertops is much easier than replacing cabinets. If you want a pop of color, you can always add accessories on your countertop as well. White goes with everything, so switching up your accents, your curtain colors or your paint colors is a breeze. You never have to worry about having a specific palette to stick to.

Budget Friendly

Kitchen Cabinets

With any kitchen remodel, you can make it affordable, or expensive, depending on the choices you make. When going with a white kitchen, you still have those same options, but many of them offer the same exact look but at different price points. For example, our in stock Unfinished Alder Shaker cabinets are perfect for someone looking for an affordable white kitchen remodel. These cabinets can be painted or stained any color you choose, but look so great painted white. Not only is white a timeless color, but shaker is a timeless style of cabinet. These cabinets are so budget friendly that I always recommend them. Unless you’re looking for all the bells and whistles, these cabinets will be sure to please. They are all wood construction and are very durable. You can buy individual pieces to upgrade them as well, like trash can pull out systems, lazy Susans, and even soft close drawer extensions! This same style of cabinet can be found in double and triple the price, but ultimately, the look is the extremely similar, if not exactly the same.

Countertops

If you want an all white kitchen, which is both trendy and timeless, you can go with a few countertop options, and again, what you spend is up to you, although you can make it very affordable. White custom laminate can be made to look solid white, like a quartz you might find, or exactly like a Carrara marble. We also offer an instock laminate that is white with grey swirls, which looks great with a white cabinet. You can choose a real Carrara marble, which is still a decently affordable option (especially at Builders Surplus) when compared to some other granite or quartz choices. Finally, you can go high end and choose a white quartz. You can still achieve the same look for less, though.

Backsplash

White subway tile works great with white cabinets or in an all white kitchen. White subway tile is one of the most affordable backsplash options you can find. While you don’t have to go all white, it is a very classic look. There are many other affordable white mesh back tiles that you can choose as well, like our new White Wooden Mosaic. Want to add a pop of color to your all white space? Backsplash is the perfect place to do it. You can change up your look very easily by a backsplash switch. While it still requires effort, it is still MUCH easier than replacing cabinets!
